how come OC roads are nice? you can see the difference when you are in LA County or San Bernardino

maybe we don't need this new gas tax. it seems to me the quality of infrastructures depend on the county.

you can also compare the I5 in OC and LA. you know you are in LA when the 12 lanes in OC become just 6 lanes in LAC

A question I've been asking for years. If I remember right OC had a small increase in sales tax for the roads and it obviously all went to the roads.... unlike other counties.

That's a great point, the state will have Janet Napolitano squander millions on their behalf. An audit won't find anything since she has to approve them anyway.

Life is all about trade-offs. Better transportation infrastructure costs money, of course. At the same time, the idea that money must come from incremental taxes is a fallacy. Following is a list of California State Agencies & Boards, each with its on budget, employees, infrastructure, bureaucracy, etc.

I can easily imagine eliminating many of these & laying off their employees, and using their budget to improve transportation infrastructure. No new taxes needed.

regulatory agencies like Board of Accountancy and the like should be able to source their revenue from the professionals they regulate. they should not be relying on the general funds/tax
