I have a 93 E150 Ford van conversion.

I drove around 600 miles the last 2 years and now its time for smog again.

Can I get a DMV smog exemption based on mileage?

I've had it for 6 years and it gets about 300 miles a year since I use it to

go to the beach with my surf boards, paddle board and bicycles.

No. Mileage has nothing to do with it. You have to pass the emission standards.

if you don't pass, and you are low income you can get $500 from the state towards any repairs necessary to pass the test.

its gonna pass, but since I put 600 miles in two years why does it really need a smog test?

This isn't a hill you want to die on. Just get the car smogged.

Because maybe your catalytic converter went bad at mile 599.

Because it's the law? And because everybody else has to as well?

So you'd prefer that we return to 3rd stage smog alerts. (Did you live in L.A. then, Vega?) Clean air should have nothing to do with politics.

Are you driving it on California roads? Then you need a smog. The amount of mileage you drive is inconsequential to the smog test being performed.

Yeah too bad. I just replaced my wife’s SUV catalitics at the tune of 1200 bucks. Sorry I like clean air. Smog is toxic air. People die from smog. Go look and see what’s happening in China with pollution.

You can always move to a county/area where there is no smog testing.
