I am so disappointed with CA voters. It is mostly the underclass and the young that voted against Prop 6. $5 bil a year is $125 for each man/woman/child in this state. You pay this tax directly (gasoline) and indirectly (higher price of groceries, taxi, etc..). This tax literally doubled the budget for the already bloated Caltrans. It costs CA 2 to 4 times more money to maintain 1 mile of road compared to other states. You have bus drivers and BART janitors making over $200K (with overtime) a year. I don't think they should make minimum wage but how about $40K- $50K plus $20K in benefits for them which is very fair.

I drive a company car with gas fully paid for so it will not affect me much but it is amazing that the voters in this state are so uninformed.

Yeah, why does it cost CA 2 to 4 times to maintain 1 mile of road (same number of lanes) compared to other states? If you are fine with that then I have nothing to say to you.

CA salaries are roughly 10% higher than the nation's average. Why should materials be more than 10% higher than anywhere? Google "Caltrans audit", you will learn more about the wasteful and inefficiencies at Calstrans.

Is it over for Prop 6?

Possible scenarios:

The democrat leadership mailed already filled out ballots and told them, "just sign your name here and send it back to us."

They voted NO on 6 to resist Trump.

They are cop and firefighter groupies who obeyed their hero and voted NO. I kid you not. This phenomenon is real.

The LA Times told them to vote NO.

DeMaio said he was going to file a lawsuit if prop 6 lost because of the wording Becerra approved for the ballot. I guess it’s taking a page from the liberal playbook to sue if you don’t like the result.

Leave it alone already.

"They" actually read the proposition and realized how much more it would cost every driver in California if Prop 6 passed.

Now, back to fixing those potholes.

Arizona road use? Phbbbt!
Exactly like they have 40 million folks, 5th largest economy in the world, or even produce 2/3rd's of the fruits and vegetables in this country, while exporting 23% of it overseas. California is simply a powerhouse for the entire world so it makes sense that we would pay more.

Lots of rubber moving those goods, and the people who grow, manufacture, ship, market, package, dispose, provide support services, etc ad infinitum. Busy state. Makes lovely Arizona look like a Sunday morning ... even on weekday commute times.
