Hey I started this thread, I've lived here for 30 years, I'm embarrassed that CA voters just voted themselves three new tax bills.

As for questioning who is an adult, it’s worth asking who has command of their topic and who simply parrots ideological bird cage liner notes. You know nothing about the history and causes of homelessness ... yet you spew out that the blame is contemporarily political, and not broadly socio-economic in nature.
Touche! Opening up a can of whoop-a$$ again!

So get yourself a U-Haul then. I'm staying here.

Labor shortages are a national challenge. In September, employers nationwide had more than a million more unfilled job openings, at 7.01 million, than there were unemployed workers, according to the Labor Department.

Average time to fill vacant job positions reached a record high of 32.3 working days in September, according to University of Chicago labor economist Steven Davis. It took more than 40 days to fill jobs in the tech-heavy information industry.

Unemployment in Wisconsin is well below the national average; the economy is booming.

Foxconn is actively engaged with high schools and local colleges to produce the workers it will need at the plant when it is completed.
Foxconn had to be bribed with state money to come over. And recently they said that the jobs to be there was going to be around 3,000, not 13,000.

It's odd - Scott Walker gutted WI's public education budgets, including the University of Wisconsin...and that's going to really help with their supply of skilled labor?

My city passed a half cent sales tax increase, too. It was pushed as a way to solve the homeless problem, fix potholes and maintain streets and parks, improve 911 response times. In truth, as one city councilwoman stated, The cause of this point blank is CalPERS and our pension fund. Guess the people in my city will have to wait to see if the increase really does do what it's claimed.
I'm good friends with a local city manager with years in at several cities...

The elephant in the room is the civil service retirement... she has shown me the projections where the obligations will consume the entire budget...

Maybe we are trying to inflate are way out?

Agreed, they're ruining our state.
I have often supported Senator Feinstein over the years...

Yesterday she was on camera saying having one party rule doesn't serve America... which I agree... she went on to say how important it is to our Democracy to thrive...

What I didn't hear is I expected her comments to apply to all levels which she clearly was not saying... her focus was strictly Washington but the SF Bay Area is often very close to one party rule and gets a pass.

I'm in Oakland and if the early returns are true once again the voters have been very generous adding new assessments to property... very generous... some have said it could mean Oakland has the highest city/combined tax burden in the State.

This is what I thought but the recent heat waves in Europe have made A/C a very popular item and at times totally sold out...

It was the same with automatic transmissions and automotive A/C before.

Oh no doubt there. When you consider that we're only half way through the baby boomer population and the number of those working in civil service jobs, can you imagine what it will be like in another five or ten years? The worst is yet to come.
