Anyone aware of any Norwegian or Icelandic pockets in LA, the Bay Area, or elsewhere in California? Anywhere in the western U.S.?

The biggest Scandinavian community in the western U.S. is probably the Ballard district of Seattle, WA. In CA you might start with the Norwegian Seaman's Churches in Los Angeles (San Pedro) and San Francisco. Another place to look is the Sons of Norway, though through them you are more likely to find second, third and fourth generation Scandinavians.

There are actually plenty of Scandinavian immigrants all over California, just not in concentrated pockets; they’re spread out. The ones who have been here for more than just a few years are usually very well assimilated. On the surface you probably wouldn't even know that they are foreigners.
