They've been catching yellowfin off Washington for a few years now. That's one big tuna crab!

I doubt anything would be done until the damage has been done. Ironically the easiest time to correct a problem is also the least likely time to take action.

I've watched it a handful of times in the 90s, not sure why that has to do with OP or my post.

I for one welcome these invaders regardless if they assimilate or not, I love seafood.

So, you're saying kill all the jellyfish before they reach California shores then? That seems...extreme.

I saw this guy trying to zap a jellyfish with a cattle prod so I told him to knock it off or I'd give him a free helicopter ride. Did I do good?

Yeah, they were probably born in CA, well in the water.

You're funny Seriously though, when some types of "invaders" arrive by either a warm blob or even attach themselves to cargo ships, they can raise some havoc with native species. I can't recall how many years ago it was but I remember reading an article about these little crabs from China. No, I'm not talking about short cranky Asian people, I mean tiny little Chinese crustaceans. Attached to cargo ships and dropping off into San Francisco Bay, they began eating the native crabs. That was causing an algae problem because the native crabs kept the algae problem away and the new arrivals didn't like the stuff so they were killing off the natural predators and letting the algae multiply. After their torment in the bay, they started working their way inland, into the Delta, wreaking more havoc. I don't know how they eradicated the problem but yeah, invaders, at least the marine type, can and do cause a lot of problems. No joke.

I would hire fishermen to catch them before the situation deteriorates to the point where extermination is necessary. Really don't want to see California beach closed because of jellyfish threat.
