Also, folks who say "gimmie something free" and voting for a tax is totally contradictory. As the new taxes come out everyone's pocket. Sales tax or property tax (which can be passed off in the rent) included.

Accept the fact that your party is dying and will be irrelevant in 20 years and move on.
There are many uneducated voters in this state that never read the fine line when voting on a initiative. There are tons of voters that fall under the poverty line that pay little if any in taxes so they can care less what boondoggle projects or what angle politicians come up with to fleece it’s residents with tax increases. With so many avenues of revenue that state already has (bridge tolls, car registration, income tax, gas tax, liquor and tobacco tax, lottery, etc at the state level), local level is property tax and sales tax. I’m fed up. If any new taxes are to be increased perhaps a independent panel should look into how the state is spending its money before we shell out more of our hard earned money.

I don’t like the idea of such a large state that plays a huge role in our nations economy and elections to be dominated by one party.

When was the last time a presidential candidate campaigned in California. I’ll wait.

Not to mention Kamala launching her campaign here.

If 55% passes were going to be flooded with all kinds of bonds initiatives and the stupid voters will pass them.

Which is, of course, the entire goal.

"Bond initiative" being a magical incantation that makes money fall from the sky.

I'm just waiting for a proposition that eliminates any voter input in tax increases or bond measures. Just let the legislature and governor do what they want. Knowing the electorate here they'll probably vote for it by a landslide.

Sorry but this just isn't true. In theory those investments should pay for the pensions, but with the idiots doing the investing and the actual returns they're getting, no pension is going to be fully funded.

Employees kick in, the employers kick in and many people take a cut and then they market time. This all leads to returns so bad that you’d actually have to be trying to perform poorly to do that badly!! Not to mention assumptions that are ridiculous to start with. Oh, and pensions too generous.

The PR Campaign against Prop 13 is ramping up.

https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/...s-13782723.php

Quote:
Because it limited tax increases on any home or business to 2 percent a year until it changed ownership, Prop. 13 made commercial developments much more attractive to local leaders. Many commercial properties — auto malls, for example — generate sales taxes; none requires the new schools, parks and other public services that homes do. And in de-linking property taxes from current property values, Prop. 13 also reduced owners’ incentive to put under-used land and other property to its highest and best uses. At the same time, local governments imposed hefty fees on residential development to pay for the schools and infrastructure they required.
Prop 13 is going down sooner rather than later. I hope you all have prepared financially.

^so strange, CA is the fifth largest economy in the world, and Ol' Jer announced a surplus budget right before he left office. Why in the heck does CA.gov need more money?
