We both know it is a disingenuous question. Come up with some more intellectual depth before speaking to me again.
I think what he is trying to say is that your beach bum persona doesn't reflect all Californians

I'm far from a beach bum and most people in California share my political and moral beliefs.

Three or four people live in the red areas. The rest are against Trump. Voter turnout was as much as 70% in 2016 in some counties, and was at historical highs in nearly all counties, and most are colored blue. Hard to argue that they don't share values and goals and beliefs.

Please don't try to position yourself to take the high road because it's not working. You're just here to jerk chains.

The fact that 70% in some counties went against trump does not mean that there are not a lot of conservatives in California. Trump may be hated by dems, but there are many republicans that also hate him as well. Go inland and the state gets much more conservative. So there are more than three, or four people.

Maybe because some of us don't feel like getting into yet another argument trying to defend the fact that we happen to like living in California?

Or possibly they want to avoid all the people who attack anyone here who happens to like where he or she lives.

But yet here you are in this thread.

Yet it is ok for someone in California to make condescending comments about those living in other states. Oh wait I get it, only Californians get to do that.

Wel, go ahead and do so if you really feel that you aren’t capable of answering the questions I asked you. Will you also report all of the other people who question or don’t agree with you? Can I report you for being insulting and condescending to others?
You could just put me on ignore.

I don't have kids but in my soon-to-be-ex Peninsula burg, all the kid entertainment facilities have been torn down and converted into hotels or condos or office space. No more miniature golf, no more roller skating, no more Malibu Grand Prix. It's short-sighted and stupid. People need places to take their kids.

With the exception of what was Gold's Gym downtown, all the major gyms are gone. Now I hear more restaurants are going out of business and selling their fixtures.

The city is encouraging people to build ADUs atop their existing free-standing garages. Cram those bodies in. Collect more tax revenue.

That's right. There are plenty of us who are tired of all the repeated condescending comments. It's endless. I can see someone commenting about how or why they're unhappy about living here. But not slamming the state, over and over and OVER again, as if it caused all of the person's problems. What's the point?

Did he come to the Georgia forum and post repeated complaints about how awful your state is?

Gas is high ... average family difference runs $50 - $100 a month range.

Maintenance? Of what? Cars? Depends on where in California and where else in the US you compare to. Overall not much if any difference.

Health insurance? Quite average. Here are comparison charts: https://howmuch.net/articles/health-...rates-by-state

Taxes? Covered ad nauseam in these forums ... the state income tax is tiered to be entirely reasonable to the average worker compared to other states. Sales tax is high-ish but not the worst. Gas tax has been covered, yes, high.

Car registration can be high if you drive newer expensive vehicles.

Lots of states have emissions requirements.

So, yeah, not a cheap place to live ... but so bad as to drive a person out of an established mortgage ... to pay relocation expenses, and then forgo the real estate appreciation rates here?

Hmmm ....
We moved to Idaho in 1991 from the central valley of California for various reasons; COL, crime (yes I know it's everywhere), smog, heat, gun laws, attitude in general.

Full coverage on two cars less than five years old runs me less than $200 a month.

Gas, are we talking for cars or house?? We have none for the house and well we all know the gas for cars varies.

Maintenance of anything is less a.s our labor rates are less.

Health insurance; I took a look at your link and I'm happy to say I pay far less then our average. I pay $50.00 a month which gives me a $10 co-pay and a $2500 deductible. Preventive visits and testing is 100% covered. I get to choose my own provider and there is no need for a referral even to a specialist.

Taxes; yep they're less

Car registration; less than $200 annually for two cars that are less than 5 years old.

Boise is the only area with emissions and we don't live there.

I would trade the beauty of our area for any concrete jungle! Yes, CA is meant for some, but not for us
