Brake pedal (can see it picture #9) looks pretty worn smooth for a car with supposedly only 50k miles on it.
Presumably the low mileage is the intended selling point so without that, it's just a POS car that happens to be in good shape for its age. Even with the lower mileage, bottom line is it's still an 88 Camry so unless you have an affinity for such heaps, well...

So, way overpriced. Put the $10k into something newer and nicer instead.

I have no idea about the brake pedal but the rest of the car looks great for it's age. Maybe they are 50,000 city miles with a lot of braking. I guess they are trying to sell it as a collector car given it's age and greatly above average condition?

Hey now. It’s got *a cassette player*. You can’t get those in Tesla’s or Maserati’s or even Bentley’s.

We had that exact car in a different color. You can drive a Camry for over 200,000 miles and it'll hold up if it's serviced regularly. I think that's a fair price, given the price range of used cars right now.

And it has a cassette player! Can’t beat that with a stick

KBB only goes back to 1992 but high end range for a Camry in excellent condition with that mileage is $3K. Maybe if it was an old Honda CRX or or Toyota Celica could I see a premium on the price for the nostalgia factor but it's a Camry.

Sounds about right. So if you bought this and were in a total loss accident, insurance would maybe pay you something close to that. Net loss -$7K instantly? No thanks. Also, being low mileage doesn't mean it's mechanically sound. I wouldn't be surprised if once someone began driving it on a normal basis, it didn't start leaking oil from all the sitting around it presumably did. Also, once normal mileage starts going on the odometer and regular wear and tear begins 30 years after the car's prime, the value absolutely tanks. In two years, it has 80k miles on it, four it has 100k+ and so on. Now it's just an 88 Camry 4dr. Had you invested that $10k into something newer and better, the depreciation would be much less.

tl;dr - low mileage non-collectible cars aren't anything special (edit: except for their snazzy tape decks -- that's for you Mutt)

The car does seem over priced to me......but, as a classic/collector type car it is only over priced if nobody is willing to pay that amount for the car in the condition it is supposedly in.

I owned at one time a older Camry. It was very reliable, not too expense to maintain, ran well and lasted well past 200,000 miles.

I’ll share with the readers exactly what anything is *worth* … is what someone is willing to pay for it at the moment in time a transaction is proposed.
