Thanks that was his name: I listed it as Sierra I guess because of the Sierra Nevada mountains that came to mind

Default City of Orange: This will blow you away

Friday Afternoon blow you away trivia: What was the city of Orange named for? Oranges, right? Wrong. (The City of Orange was formed in 1869 before the first oranges ever got to Orange County AND at that time Orange County didn't exist; the area was part of Los Angeles County.)

Alfred Chapman and Andrew Glassell formed the City of Orange. Why that name? Because they came from Orange County Virginia. But that wasn't named for the fruit either. It was named from The House of Orange in Europe. But that wasn't named from the fruit either! "Orange" came from a corrupted version of Celtic word Arausio, who is the Celtic Water God.
Bottom Line, it's a incredible coincidence the City of Orange was named for something that has nothing to do with what the region became famous for.

No, that is no longer acceptable. It's now "First People"

I work on two different reservations and while most younger indigenous people prefer 'Native' (sans the '-American' part), most people over 40ish still call themselves, and don't mind being called 'Indian'.

As for 'First People", this is the first I ever heard the term except as a general term to encompass Native American with Canadian First Nations and indigenous Mexicans as a sort of collective term for North American indigenous people.
