I understand that an association of retired teachers owns the land, but why do they allow people to squat on it? The squatters even have Facebook pages & groups where they discuss drug dealing, operating Air B&Bs, making hooch, and other activities. There are no real answers on the internet.

Feel free to live in that dung heap if you want. It's out in the middle of nowhere. It's not anywhere near the beach. The ratio of felons is most definitely higher than anywhere else in CA. It takes a "special" type to hang there.

I have a question: Why don't most homeless people in California relocate here?

Libs would never let it happen. They are determined to keep the street zombies living among us.

Lol. Actually, it’s the constitution and the very essence of our American ethics that wouldn’t “let it happen”. The vast vast majority of homeless wouldn’t want to live in Slab City, for many reasons, including good reasons. The very question reveals a total lack of knowledge and understanding of who the homeless are and the nature of their problems.

The notion that it is a liberal desire to “ keep the street zombies living among us” is frankly stupid on its face.

Why do you care? A bunch of people, living the (marginal) lives they want out in the desert: what have they done to you?

im been advocating this idea for a long time.

these homeless only needs a tent and a pot to get by so why not bus them to Slab City? or any desolate place? improve the place like put bathrooms, toilets, cooking area, police presence, social workers etc

instead of trying to put each of them into studio apartments?

no wonder all the programs geared for the homeless dont give a dent to the problem

of course these homeless advocates dont earn money by just providing tents so they fight tooth and nail to get financing for billions of dollars to build low cost housing

Isn’t that better than all the so called rednecks you complain about living in the south? Like the other poster said , why do you care, what have they done to you?

Well you’ve been advocating an idea that’s without legal foundation. How many times does it have to be pointed out that being homeless is not against the law? Therefore they can’t just be “rounded up and bussed” anywhere involuntarily ... even if it was affordable to do so.

The homeless don’t want to be forced out of where they have called home previously. They have friends, relatives, and connections of all sorts, both good and bad. They know where they can find support when they want it / need it. 75% of homeless reintegrate to housing and often employment within less than a year on average. Do you think they can make those changes remotely from forced internment in the desert?

If you don’t know anything about a topic, consider learning before promoting simplistic, reductionist suggestions.
