Unfortunately you’re the one having to deal with this bs because of one irresponsible a-hole. That’s why when I sell a car the title transfer happens at AAA. I am very clear about it when I talk to the person over the phone.

Most likely they will tow it.
Excellent way to save a lot of headache. A photocopy or cell-phone snap of the buyer"s DL is helpful also. At least verify the name/number and write it on the bill of sale.

It helps. I have sold probably 5 cars in the last 6 years. I had one buyer who said they didn’t have time to do it. I said ok no problem have a good day. I sold the truck a week later to a construction worker for $500 more. And he had no issue going to the AAA with me. I do this because I have heard AND had too many of my friends dealing with bs headaches like this. There are too many irresponsible Aholes out there and I simply have no interest in dealing with their bs.

I also did this when I lived in CA. AAA was an awesome resource for this. I always told prospective buyers that this was how it would be done, and also a cash transaction in the AAA parking lot. If they didn’t want to do this, they didn’t get to buy the car.
