It's hard not to notice that fact, right? But Newsom set the ball in motion even before the election when he tried to force schools to open up, another thing his supporters were wringing their hands over with respect to Elder, etc. And his base ignored it.

Is political expediency ironic though?

As in they were forcing a bunch of air into the plane, right?
Some airlines do it better than others. There's plenty of air flow, even when the planes are sitting idle on a runway.

Of course I'm not traveling during a pandemic. No reason for me to. It's generally irresponsible.

Regardless of spread on planes, having infected people introduce the virus (well, at this point a variant) to other regions is no good and all reasonable measures must be taken to detect infections before boarding.

Which people might those be? Who's quotes are those? I don't recall stating anywhere that I was trying to change your or anyone else's mind either. Just pointing out the reality of the situation and that ranting isn't exactly going to change anything. I also don't find it ironic at all that as numbers get better, mandates get lifted (the exception being Southern Cal right now). It actually seems quite logical to me.

I never said you did but not what is honestly the point of pointing that out? But the majority of Newsom’s supporters still want the mandates yet he lifted them.

Again, not ironic at all. At what point did you think Governors were elected based on a single issue?

Clearly the rest of what Elder stood for wasn't palatable to the majority of voters. And for the record, these claims about what "supporters" want are probably taken from silimar polls that some of the posters here try to discredit. I know plenty of people that support Newsom that don't necessarily agree with some of the Covid protocols and don't have an issue with easing some of the restrictions as numbers got lower.

For a recall election that’s pretty common actually.

Maybe to get it to a ballot, but if you're a candidate that is only in line with that one issue, your chances are slim to unseat the current Governor. And that's exactly what happened.

I didn't and it wasn't the point.
The point was Newsom has done all the things his supporters fretted over any of his potential replacements doing. In the grand scheme of things, what does it matter who changed those policies? You could argue the timing would've been different, and that's maybe true (not getting into the weeds of how this would've worked with a hostile state legislature), but ultimately the protocols went away in spite of him keeping his job.
