As I was saying....

Surprise, surprise, Paxlovid is only moderately effective.

Any time I need the current most accurate update I stay tuned to CNN or CNNplus.
Any place else is just filled with misinformation.

Unfortunately, preliminary reports from drug companies are full of misinformation.

Also, people are unhappy in this virus era.

To be fair, the paxlovid trial was done for Delta, not Omicron.

I don't give much leeway for that. The maker knew new variants were coming, plus it spun the drug as though it would work nicely no matter how variants evolve. Also, like many drug trials, it probably was chosen to exclude people who likely wouldn't respond well.

We've been lied to a ton, and some here have bought into the lies, and unless there's very good fortune, much more harm to public health is on the way.

Gosh, with everything else going on right now I had forgotten about Covid. Even the newscasters who used to not be able to speak for 15 seconds without saying "Covid," "pandemic," or "vaccine," barely mention it any more. Could it be...it's just not as pressing as it was?

The world is having an increasing number of major problems, while for the time being (partly weather-related) COVID-19 isn't killing many people, but that doesn't mean it isn't hurting public health, the economy, quality of life, etc. I say, after inflation (which has a virus-related element), it's the problem directly affecting the most people. I just want readers to accept that we're stuck in this, but less so if there is widespread individual adjustment instead of denial plus a push for more safeguards (testing especially) and major government investment into medical R&D but this time not rushed to the point of false promises.

People say the stupidest things in this thread.

It's not easy anywhere for a young person to get disability for a physical ailment.
