The links to articles in which the page doesn't exist? Or the link to the article about how Prince William and Kate are stepping up to combat the coronavirus?

Yeah the link to the article that does exist the first time I posted it. I relinked it about 5-8 posts before this. You know where the other poster easily found it and said thanks. The other articles also work so had you read even 2 others it would have been crystal clear.

Rare, but sad event. Geez, you can't even assume that it's safe to be around family members.

Coronavirus Ravages 7 Members of a Single Family, Killing 2
The matriarch of the large New Jersey family, herself sick with the virus, “doesn’t realize her two oldest children have passed.”

Grace Fusco — mother of 11, grandmother of 27 — would sit in the same pew at church each Sunday, surrounded by nearly a dozen members of her sprawling Italian-American family. Sunday dinners drew an even larger crowd to her home in central New Jersey.

Now, her close-knit clan is united anew by unspeakable grief: Mrs. Fusco, 73, and four of her children are hospitalized with coronavirus. Two children who contracted the virus have died in the last week.

Mrs. Fusco’s eldest child, Rita Fusco-Jackson, 55, of Freehold, N.J., died Friday with the virus, a relative said. Her eldest son, Carmine Fusco, of Bath, Pa., died on Wednesday, said the relative, Roseann Paradiso Fodera.

Three of the four siblings who remain hospitalized are in critical condition, Ms. Paradiso Fodera said.

Mrs. Fusco, of Freehold, is “gravely ill” and breathing with help from a ventilator, said Ms. Paradiso Fodera, a lawyer who is Mrs. Fusco’s cousin and is serving as a family spokeswoman.

“My cousin Grace doesn’t realize her two oldest children have passed,” she said.

Fuel for the fire.
Two US doctors in critical condition with COVID-19, dozens more infected [arstechnica.com]

More fuel for the fire.
United States Coronavirus counts [worldometers.info]
Global Coronavirus counts by Age [worldometers.info]

This isn't as trivial as some people try to put it but it's true that we've hurt the economy and our primitive civilization pretty much needs to be pacified by stuff (money) to keep running smoothly.

For the argument about saving lives, it's an ideal that we as a people are pretty good at talking about but the plain reality based on our society's actions is that yes, there is a price on life. People are obviously making a cost-benefit analysis on this based on whatever side of the argument they happen to feel more strongly for.

For people who say to quarantine, the economic damage afterwards will likely ruin a lot of lives, particularly from lower income families. How does one put a cost to lost futures?

For those who say to let it run, we will definitely see more deaths than we otherwise would have; denying this is either wishful thinking at best. How do you calculate the potential loss to future productivity or breakthroughs by people who otherwise may have given us breakthrough inventions? Not just loss through deaths, but by loss of loved ones? The emotional cost should not be underestimated.

In the end, whether the hit to the economy was worth it will be up to future historians to decide.

One thing I don't hear much of, nobody's really talking about why our medical surveillance capability was so much more inadequate than we ever thought. There just isn't the same intensity of discussion versus, say, speculation about where the Coronavirus had landed or how much TP should we hoard gain immunity to it.

In the interest of fairness all around, let's be inclusive of members of the third faction in all of this: The conspiracy theorists. What is the government hiding that they're using the Coronavirus hype to cover up? What evil is Big TP planning on after prodding everybody into buying up all of the stock in the stores?
