I'd need a garage first....

I didn't just become distrustful of the government.

Now I'd probably have to trust the government to notify in a timely manner if there's been an outbreak and I've been exposed and then I'd likely be ordered to quarantine for days even if asymptomatic.... I need to try a different gym to see if the patrons are any more sensible.

Anyway, I don't believe the vaccines are highly effective against mild or asymptomatic infection. Few vaccines for any diseases are, and they were tested in artificial settings, including widespread mask use.

A new vaccine failed its trial, and my guess is one reason is Latin American participants generally weren't wearing masks.

(And all that shows is the percent by age group who have received ONE dose of the vaccine.)

You don't think that's good coverage considering it's only been a couple months since vaccine eligibility was broadened to almost everyone? Also, why are they only including 16 and up when there's coverage available for +12? It's more than doubled since mid-March. As for those with only one dose, the indicator is there that the individual is going to be getting their second one soon enough.

So what would you suggest they do?

If there's going to be a surge from breakthrough cases, it will mean in the bigger picture that the vaccine has failed. So what difference would it make if your gym instituted their own vaccine passport scheme? Also, the state just said (among other things) that employees who have a covid-positive close contact no longer need to quarantine, so their confidence in the vaccine's efficacy is evident. There's a chance they're overestimating all this but right now, the only ones we really need to worry about are the 0-11 age group since it's guaranteed they're unprotected.

So-so. What's keeping people from receiving their vaccination, especially when we read about the Delta variant?

Unvaccinated adults are the ones who should worry, more so than fully vaccinated people like me who run into groups of them. Restaurants, bars, and gyms, like before, could easily become sources of COVID-19 spread, unless they verify that patrons are fully vaccinated. And gyms could require masks for most activities and do temperature checks (moderately useful). Gyms could easily do all that but aren't because they value money more and know the mostly dumb (unvaccinated) would vote with their feet (except for just temperature checks, which seem agreeable to most).

Unvaccinated people are essentially pro-China collaborators trying to spread the Sino bioweapon and defeat the American-made cure.

Commie pinko traitors.

San Francisco with extra rules for huge indoor gatherings. I guess some here already knew.

Also, employees who falsely self-attest that they're vaccinated can and will be fired?

You mean like the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine? The one where BioNTech, a German company, was the developer of the vaccine?

And what “cure” are you talking about? I had no idea the vaccines cured COVID. Please elaborate.

This is amazing. I wonder what their reasons are for not being vaccinated.

Despite the priority access and array of incentives, vaccination rates for police, fire and corrections agencies across L.A. and California have lagged well behind the state’s average for adult residents, according to a survey of agencies conducted by The Times.

While about 72% of adult Californians and 64% of Los Angeles residents 16 and older have received at least one vaccine dose, only about 51% of city firefighters and 52% of LAPD officers are at least partially vaccinated.

police, firefighters = less educated = distrustful/ignorant about science = vaccine hestiancy
