Moving trailer is booked, plans for the cross country drive and move are set, 2 weeks after my daughter finishes first grade we are putting this whole mess of a state firmly in the rear view mirror.

Sure California was fun when I first moved here in 2004. However it has gone steadily downhill every single year since. The current moron nazi wannabe in Sacramento has taken it from bad to worse and his abysmal handling of the China virus has made it all the worse. Never mind his EV demand that he doesn’t have the authority to even Implement, let alone his throwing taxpayer money at illegal border jumpers before US citizens. Gavin Newscum is a plague upon an already spiraling out of control state. You all can enjoy the fall. I’m getting my family the hell out of here and back to free America.
I hope you are happy when you move. My mother used to say "If you're not happy here, you won't be happy there"

Actually, it is for some of us

You’re hilarious. Got here in 2004 eh? I arrived in the mid-1960s and so have known the state and its ups and downs 4x longer than you ... and I still love it.

So why do you keep coming back to the California forum to kvetch? You never - ever - sound even slightly happy.

I think if he lived here in the 1970s-1980s, he would understand WHY we have such strict smog rules. I grew up playing recess inside because of stage 2 smog alerts.

Stage 3 for us! (San Gabriel Valley.) Hard to believe the smog was as bad as it was, even into the early 1980s.

"Eye-searing, throat-burning smog smothered the Los Angeles area in a bourbon-colored blanket," The Times' front page said Sept. 14, 1979, as Obama was starting his first year at Occidental.

I agree with that. How happy can you be if a big part of your time is spent posting negative things. I have never met a happy person who is obsessed with negative thoughts.

I think I'm older than you are. We were pulled off the playground for third stage smog alerts in the 1960s. The smog problem in southern California has definitely improved with each decade.

I share in the general sentiment that California is an overtaxed and overregulated state. I also share the sentiment that, all too often, we allow drug addicts, the homeless, and those who come here illegally to do as they please while they seem to have no problem enforcing stuff on the working and taxpaying populace.

That said, something had to be done about the smog. Perhaps not every regulation was needed, but because of the unique issues presented by our geography and climate, they simply had to be stricter than in the rest of the U.S. where smog was / is less of a problem.
