It won't catch on as it has to some degree in Asia. That's my guess, anyway. But there's no doubt that this year is an anomaly for me in terms of coughs, sniffles and sore throats. By now, I've usually had at least a couple rounds of such things. Sometimes it's immediately after school begins in the Fall that some sort of bug finds its way home with me. But since last year, the whole family has remained completely above it. Part of that has to be because of masks. Unless the general population sees more value in that than the mild inconvenience of a face covering, I don't suspect it to last.

I would agree except that Pfizer, J&J and Moderna are "teaching" vaccines. The cold viruses are coronaviruses. I expect that one side effect of vaxxing is making the common cold just as rare as, well, Covid.

If we're taking a vote here, I vote no. I've witnessed too much fear exhibited by people in the past year. No more. Stop living in fear that something's going to kill you. I've got news for all of you. Life is going to kill you. Eventually. Some sooner, some later but it's inevitable. Abide by the rules set forth for now but don't fall into the trap of living in fear. It's not a healthy mindset.

"I think those mass mandates in outdoor spaces should probably be the first to go,” said Kristin Nelson, PhD, an assistant professor of epidemiology at the Emory University Rollins School of Public Health. “We really need to focus on places we know are at high risk for a transmission, like large gatherings and closed spaces with poor ventilation.”
