I would add it depends on where you live in California.

texas property tax is like 3%? Ive seen people with $300-400K homes in texas pay the same property taxes as those in CA with $500-600K homes. And they gotta deal with living in TX. CA is the GOAT. Even the undesirable parts of CA are better than majority of desirable places in other cities.

That's nice. When I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment in OC electricity was less than $30 per month. In a 3/3 it's currently $45 per month. What do you have to say about that?

Yes property tax is 2-3% depending where you're at in TX. But no state income tax. You're going to get it from uncle sam one way or another. (or I should say give it to uncle sam)
On the politics side I'm sick of the way CA has been run (into the ground).
The middle class is over the barrel funding police and affordable housing for people who truly can't afford to live here.
The 2 classes who can afford this state are the wealthy and the Section 8 / Food Stamps people.
Oh, and the homeless problem is catastrophically out of control throughout SoCal. Look up our wonderful Hepatitis outbreak we had in downtown San Diego last year among the tent cities...
