If you are happy living where you live, then you've won half the game. You are there 24/7 for months at a time, probably years on end, so good for you.

One day I hope to also be as happy loving where I live.

I was native CA and choose to leave after 40 plus years. WE found our state for retimement and love it. Sure we hear a lot of negatives about our state of choice but we just blow them off and they don't bother us that much.

Maybe OP's annoyed that locals can't have a reasonable discussion about the pros and cons of California in the California state forum without every ding-dong from flyover country dogpiling a reasonable discussion right off the rails with a cascade of asinine opinions they formed from reading stormfront.

I don't mind the earned ranting from bitter wanna-be-ex-Californians, but these tourists need to mind their own business.

I know, I know. They hate us 'cause they ain't us, and we should be happy that the rest of country is so jealous. That doesn't solve the problem when an honest inquiry from somebody about pros-and-cons of living in CA will end up being 80% carpetbagger rant.

I will gladly abide by OPs wishes.

Sure, you live in a breathtakingly beautiful state. Too bad it’s been cursed by natural disasters, over taxation, and manmade disasters. I’m glad you and OP are happy, but I won’t even visit there anymore, let alone live there.

ITA, if their new state is so great, why aren't they sticking to their own state forum. It takes a pathetic person to keep posting about a state they do not live in.

OP, I'm with you, I love Ca also, flaws & all.

It perpetually mystifies me that so many people who don't even live here are so obsessed with California, and trashing the state especially. I can only attribute it to:

1) They're envious
2) Their own state offers them nothing better to do
3) They're conservatives trying to paint liberal states as failures, as if the only difference between California and South Dakota is the political party in charge
4) They came here looking for opportunity, failed and now need to blame something besides themselves
5) All of the above

I've lived in 3 states, would love to cash in on the wealth I created here by moving somewhere cheaper, but I just can't find a state that's any better. (Aka: Why they're all so much cheaper.) Given the choice of retiring early somewhere else or working into my 60's to stay here, I'll keep working, thank you!

Same here. Thanks.

Regionalism always cracks me up. It's even stupider than race supremacy since a person *can* actually control where they live so changing your alliance is only a Uhaul rental away. Also, we're supposed to be united as a country regardless of state residency.

But as for this forum, this section in particular, I really don't care if someone criticizes California, be it an elegant treatise on the state or an expletive-laden diatribe. End of the day, I'm still sleeping just fine.

Ditto! Maybe I live in a bubble but I too have lived in 3 states and after hunting for greener pastures and finding the problems exist everywhere. I feel safe, accepted and love my LA neighborhood 5 miles from the beach where its warm all year. CaliPride!!!
