5TH largest economy in gross product does not mean there are tax dollars or net income available to pay for such an expense. Calif would have to make cuts in expenditures elsewhere to pay for the cost unless of course they follow the typical progressive way and tax the hell out of the water.

They can cancel the boondoggle train to nowhere and put that money where it’s actually needed……. Nah it’ll never happen

Necessity is the mother of allocation, my friends.

"A California woman who moved to Texas a year ago is now documenting her slow descent (ascent?) to becoming a Texan by calling out all the wild, unpleasant things she's learned about living in the Lone Star State. The thing is, she's not wrong."

Yeah. I’m pretty sure we can do it.
Then why haven’t we?

Some people think a GDP ranking somehow will pay for everything and means CA has no or minimal problems.

Maybe if Ca can turn that status ranking into some cryptocurrency we can pay for it lol

Because it hasn’t become necessary yet.

Some people might think that. But no one here has expressed so in this thread.

I don't know what in Sam Hill you two are bickering about but the GDP has nothing to do with the great CA exodus. But, if we're all going to throw out off topic thoughts, here's mine.

There are too many people in CA or in the U.S. or on the planet! We can't keep up with resources to accommodate everyone. If we continue to travel this road, you won't have to worry about affording food. We'll have to worry about finding food. Same with water.

Side note: Crypto isn't going to save the world. It's not even real money. It's a stupid creation sucking up electricity to manufacture. For a country who wants to be conserving energy, the ignorance of is astounding. Sort of like Al Gore leaving his carbon footprint in the skies as he journeys around the country, sharing his inconvenient truth theory. Just another for thee but not for me elitists.

Fun fact: To generate one cryptocurrency, it takes 1,449 kWh to complete, or the equivalent of approximately 50 days of power for the average US household.

Basically agree ^^

But the GDP tangent was made in response to the question of how desal can be or not be affordable for the state in its future needs for water … which question became part of the consideration of any supposed Exodus.

If water supplies eventually reach a level that can’t serve the state, the obvious answer includes desal. The expense of desal is accommodated by nations in the middle east poorer than California. Necessity is the mother of all allocations

Our desal plant does about 50,000,000 gallons per day.

Not a lot, but it's something.

And yes, without electricity, it's dead.
