Default Napa, what?

I second Los Gatos...

and why is downtown Napa being mentioned in the same breath as all these others? Yes, it has a gaudy modern "wine center" and a nice old opera house but amidst rows of undistinguished 1950s facades and an old Mervyns. Yeech.

Nearby Sonoma (town) is a much nicer downtown...as is Petaluma, the next town over from that. Heck, one half of all California cities have nicer downtowns than Napa.

No one mentioned Ferndale in Humboldt County, tho it is rather overly cutsey...but not near as over the top as Solvang!

I like San Luis Obispo, Santa Cruz, Davis, Napa, and Santa Barbara small downtowns. I like San Francisco and San Diego big downtowns.
Los Angeles and San Francisco seems nice, maybe other cities in California as well... havent been to all of them though.

Default Downtown Visalia

Very nice downtown, good food and walkable. Not very good weather, and terrible air quality. Lots of trees in town, I think it is the nicest town in the Central Valley.

SLO for sure. First time I asked someone where the "bad" parts of town are, and was told there aren't any.
