Wikipedia said as of 2015 it has surpassed France as the 6th largest but I don't trust it due to no correlating source. If anyone can help out of curiosity that would be great

Foreign GNP estimates vary depending on the source......World Bank & International Monetary Fund are a couple of sources. Germany has the largest GNP in the EU

Such comparisons are quite pointless. It's virtually impossible to adjust GDP figures from different countries or states by the price levels in different areas. For example there is no reliable method to compare the housing costs in different places around the world.

I grew up with the conventional wisdom that California is either the fifth or sixth largest economy in the world. If you really wanted to research it, you have a computer, don't you?

As of 2015, France has roughly equal GNP to CA or is still larger then CA, depending on which statistics source you use.

well the internet lies a lot. It gives me contradictory numbers on top of the fact that most are pre-2014 stats.
