Ultimately, between these two locations, it would boil down to where I would need to commute to, for work.
Southern California is congested in terms of traffic, so that variable would be key in deciding.

I think if you really belong to AFFLUENT class, you do not care about commute to work

Well, I would need to commute to the businesses I own.

Is Newport Beach Conservative?

I misread and thought he said Manhattan Beach OVER Newport. I meant Manhatttan Beach. Had a coworker who was raised there. We were considering sharing an apartment and looked at some in Manhattan, Redondo and Hermosa Beach. Very nice area and again, more centrally located. Plus while wealthy Manhattan Beach seems more like a regular town.

None of the above. Truly affluent, try Montecito.

Belvedere, Tiburon, and Atherton make more sense than Piedmont, although Piedmont is still a very nice town.

If Commute is not a factor, what does it come down to LA v. OC?

I would pick Manhattan Beach, over Newport. I lived in Redondo years ago and know the area pretty well.
I think being in LA County gives you access to more cultural activities. Manhattan Beach has a lovely downtown area with nice shops and restaurants. The school district is also good (I’m sure the one serving Newport is also good).

That was a serious answer. I was kayaking in Newport Harbor several weeks before the election, and I was astounded at how many boats were displaying Trump signs. Elsewhere in OC there seemed to be more of a mix, but there it was all red.
