This. Also: Monterey/Pebble Beach/Carmel.

This sounds an awful lot like an inquiry we got last year sometime, from a similar guy coming from abroad (he said), who wanted to know the most prestigious beach communities in CA. He, too, focussed on SoCal & the LA area, because those were the only areas he'd heard of on TV shows, where he lived. We told him, in terms of prestige, he'd need to include parts of NorCal. He said he'd never heard of Monterey or Pebble Beach. lol

С Новым годом, тетка Груня!

Happy New Year!

You need to be affluent to buy in these towns, but the question is a bit misleading because affordability was part of the criteria from the hard hitting journalist team at 24/7 Wall St. There’s obviously much nicer places in SF, LA, and SD to live if you have the money?

I’d choose Solana Beach from this list because I’d rather live in San Diego than LA or SF. With that said I like Newport Beach the best of the three beach towns. Don’t know anything about Piedmont except an old employee grew up there, and I know it’s in the East Bay somewhere?

If Woodside wasn't so full of libs, it might be a nice place but not on your list. Aptos is also pretty nice and closer to the Pacific.

Newport Beach and Huntington Beach are pretty conservative areas. OC was once entirely very conservative, but it’s changing these days.

They claim to have “created a weighted index of 25 measures that fall into one of four categories: affordability, economy, quality of life, and community” to come up with the list….and Manhattan Beach was #1. I live in Piedmont. We like it. Bay Area money is very understated compared to their Socal counterparts. You have to be much more subtle in how you flaunt it up here---more Greenwich than Beverly Hills.

Anyhow this is data for the 2 largest population centers in California.
