Well that's kind of a result of the other person either missing and/or intentionally refusing to address the point/question. I still haven't seen any response to why they keep voting democrat.

You are using left vs right as the basis for your entire argument. Go back and read your posts.

Pretty sure you wouldn’t be a bit happier in NY anyway, for any reason … so your analogy (or was it a ‘whataboutism’? ) is poor.

And, by the way, as in all states struggling with homelessness, the lack of solution lies with the cultural and economic system and values we share in modern capitalist / technocracy times. Boatloads of money are spent serving (and being pilfered in) the crisis … much going to actual assistance … but can’t keep up with the rate of replacement of people newly arriving on the streets even as near 75% of homeless are annually back in housing. Singling out California ignores the foundational realities of the ways in which homelessness is a collateral function of successful capitalism on steroids. Primitive cultures and economies don’t struggle with homelessness.
I know right? That illustrates how more dysfunctional CA is when it comes to homelessness compared to even NY of all places. Pathetic huh?

No I'm not, that's your assumption actually. One that I even clarified that I wasn't just referring to electing republicans instead. Maybe you should go back and reread my posts actually.

If democracy was Gavin Newsom's actual mission, he’d be campaigning for it in California

Gov. Gavin Newsom is doing a good thing by launching his Campaign for Democracy against authoritarian governors who are limiting freedom in Republican states like Alabama and Florida.

But what he’s campaigning for is not democracy.

Indeed, if democracy were his mission, he’d be campaigning in California — because our state has a deficit of it.

For the past century, California has been centralizing power in state government in Sacramento and reducing the power of people to govern themselves locally. Decisions about taxation and spending are especially centralized, with communities reduced to beggars lobbying Sacramento to get their money back.

Playing off concerns about legislative gridlock, governors have added to the powers of their office for 40 years. Newsom has extended that executive power to historic heights, employing emergency powers during the pandemic. Accountability is hard because his administration is a highly secretive entity. California agencies routinely hide data, ignore public and press questions, and refuse to provide basic information that we the people need for self-government.
