This is by Metro Area. San Jose(Pop 2 million) has 1 multimillionaire for every 66 residents, enough to rank 1st in the world. Another CA Metro, SF, ranks 3rd. Not bad Golden State

Very High Net Worth Individuals($5 Million+)

Wow I always thought it was Beverly Hills or Malibu, San Jose is a 1million + city and very diverse in terms of demographics and has plenty of run down neighborhoods especially in the east side where families are scrapping by living 8 to a 2000sq ft or smaller place. Thus I am really surprised San Jose would even be on the list. Even if they are pointing at the metro area and not just the city itself. Maybe if we only include the cities/towns of Los Gatos, Monte Sereno, Saratoga, and Los Altos that would make sense.

This list is by metro area, so...

San Jose=Santa Clara+San Benito counties

San Francisco=Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, San Francisco & San Mateo counties.

Yeah, Beverly Hills and Malibu are going to be dragged down by much of the rest of LA, which has huge swaths of low income areas. And even without that, there are plenty of parts of BH and Malibu that don't require a $5M net worth to live comfortably. Removing Stanford students from the equation, I'd be curious about the ratio in the city of Palo Alto. I would guess the 1:66 for the metro area would likely look more like 1:10 or maybe even 1:5 or less.

Yeah, 1 Very High Net Worth Individual for every 170 residents is good indeed, 10th place in fact.

Not surprising, considering the amount and caliber of top tier technology companies in Santa Clara County, and neighboring San Mateo and San Francisco counties. The compensation packages these companies offer to their skilled employees is excellent. The recent stock market run certainly isn’t hurting things at all.

Saratoga, Scotts Valley, Los Gatos, Mountain View, Woodside, Atherton, Los Altos and Los Altos Hills, Hillsborough, Glen Arbor -- lots of money tucked back into those little hillsides, valleys and canyons!
