Los Angeles County because of the variety within its pretty expansive size that includes desert, chaparral, dense urbanity, beaches, forests, mountains, and islands. Of course, Los Angeles County also encompasses some pretty unattractive bits, too.

There are too many beautiful places in California to single out just one, but my heart skips a beat whenever I gaze at Half Dome in Yosemite in Maricopa County.

I agree! It is breath taking entering from East side of the park. Last time i had to get out of our vehicle and spend time taking in the breath taking views. Backpacking is such a joy in the vast region of Yosemite and nearby.
