I may be moving out to Stockton from the NYC area very soon. I have read the threads about how Stockton isnt that nice but how is the area right around the Stockton Thunder hockey arena? I'm talking about maybe a 5 mile radius from the arena?

I'm looking to get a apartment or studio.

I was looking at this one but does anyone know how the area is around it...

I also was reading that Brookside was the safer place to stay so would I be better off with this type of place?...

Brookside Crossing I in Stockton, CA

for whatever reason I can't seem to get the links to work right but you can copy and paste the url.

Also do any of you know how the Sherwood Mall and Weberstown Malls are?

Thanks for the help!

5 mile radius around the Stockton Arena basically is the entire city. It would include the best and the worst of Stockton. I would look for the areas west of I-5 personally.

If you're coming to Stockton expecting a California experience, you're in for a bit of a shock. It's more akin to a big Midwestern town like St. Louis that has seen its share of ups and downs over the years. It also has been prone to tremendous slumps - the recent price crash is not the first that Stockton has experienced. There was also a huge downturn in the late '80s, and many investors got their start buying distressed properties there for less than $10,000.

Brookside is nice, though. So is Lincoln Park, if you can find one of those condos on W Benjamin Holt Dr or the environs to rent in the 95219 ZIP code. I was looking at properties in that area a couple years ago and I thought it seemed quite decent.
