The photo of Collins Radio is on Olive Ave near Buena Vista St. My father worked there later in the 60's when it became a manufacturing site for RCA video recording heads. This really brings back memories. Thanks

I'll have to cruise down Alameda to see if I can find that very spot.

Around here along El Camino Real there are still bits and pieces of classic 1940s and 50s architecture and infrastructure. Most of the old traffic lights are gone but on some side streets there are a few hold outs. There is what used to be gas station that looks just like these ones nearby me. It did a long gig as a repair place and is now vacant. If you want the San Fernando Valley and nearby environs time warp experience there are places up here in San Mateo County where it can be had!

Some of those RCA guys then went on to Apollo Magnetics, Applied Magnetics and Micropolis. What great teachers they were when I was a new grad, most of them are now gone.

Somehow missed this thread when it came out in 08, could have made many comments. I was at Hoover the same time as the OP, although not quite in the same class. Most of my adult life was spent in Glendale, and in the 50's and 60's, yes indeed, it was a much different, much better place in my opinion.

I was having one of those "I'm getting old" moments the other day driving through an area of Fresno I used to live in back then. Didn't even recognize it (and really wouldn't want to stop the car).
