4 miles from the water here in OC with no AC. Its 88 degrees inside the house and we can't open the big doors for cross ventilation because of the flying peanuts. Argh!

These flying beetles that come out this time of year. They're brown and about the size of a peanut and of course they're attracted to the lights inside the house.

107 today in Sherman Oaks. It's now 88 degrees. I haven't turned the A/C off since I turned it on yesterday morning at 9:00! Our nighttime low last night was 72!

Oh, OK now we know what you are writing about - bugs This is the time of year when those big spiders [about the size of a man’s thumb] build their huge webs at night. Without a flashlight I’ve walked right into the creepy spider webs

I know fans don't work if the temperature is hot. Lots of people don't have air conditioning in West LA/beach cities b/c you normally don't need it 90% of the time, right?

Actually I can see the ocean from my street on super-clear days in winter so I'm only 15 miles inland & up in the hills. Normally I wouldn't use A/C that much but the rest of the family go bananas at 80F I especially do not like a/c at night but have had to keep it on all night lately.

Tomorrow & especially Monday are suppose to cool down nicely.

I like the heat. The intensity of it and the contrast you feel walking from the air conditioned indoors to the warmth outside always reminds me of the lazy days of summertime when I was a lad when school was out. It is like a daily reprieve from the responsibilities of being an adult. The cold just 'kills' me...I hate it.

Bring on the heat...odd, I know.

Towards the beach it is a bit cooler - but very hot during the day....it does cool off beautifully at night though. Most houses where we live (5 miles from beach) don't have air conditioning and it has been quite warm inside our house during the day.

This time of year in TX it is always in the mid to high 90s. Wonderful at night though 80s. I remember those day when we lived in Irvine, CA with no A/C pretty miserable trying to sleep at night. It is highly unusual in CA to have those types of temperatures. Was it the Santa Ana wind condition?
