hello, I plan on moving to California soon, and wanted to know where all the nice areas/cities were located ( areas that are more metro/business based, expensive, and beautiful, as well as rich, beaches nearby)
any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is your budget for housing?
What line of work are you in?
Where do you think you will work?
Why do you plan on moving to California?
Your profile is empty, so where are you from?

Why the ?

You know California's a HUGE state with good and bad areas all over the place, right? You may as well be asking "Where's a good place on Earth?" Without more details, you're going to get a million different answers.

Kind of a broad question, the major metros are the Bay Area which has a huge variety of different areas, then Los Angeles, which has a lot of variety, then there is Orange County which has its own set up areas then San Diego, then there are cities like Sacramento that are inland, its a huge state you should do some research then ask more specific questions as I don't think you'll get many useful answers from such as broad question.

If you want metro and nice upscale beachy areas they can be found outside most of the larger economic centers along the CA coast: LA, SF, OC, SD. They mostly all have upscales neighboorhoods.

SF may be the hardest to find an upscale 'beachy' community however. The closest nicer beaches near SF are Santa Cruz and Half Moon Bay. Ocean Beach is the closest to the city. But I wouldn't consider it upscale even though the houses are overpriced.

In LA you have Malibu, Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, etc...

OC - Laguna, Newport, San Clemente, ...

SD - La Jolla, Solana, Del Mar,...

I'll take a stab at it:

1. North San Diego County.

2. South Orange County

3. Ventura County around the Conejo Valley

4. Parts of Santa Barbara County (those parts affordable and still safe)

5. San Luis Obispo County

6. Monterey County (avoid Salinas)

Ask someone else about Northern Califronia. I'd never live there due to the number or melon heads.

tthe CA central coast. Metro/business? not completely when it comes to the central coast, Monterey down to Santa Barbara. San Luis Obispo County is nice, has beaches and is expensive. Along the coast, Monterey to Santa Barbara is pretty nice.

I live in Malibu and I don't think there are any bad parts of Malibu. All of the people I live next to and around me are famous in some way. Hope this helps.
