In my opinion Southern California is more classy, even though Hollywood has completely consumed the Obama kool-aid. I think Southern California is more comfortable and more tolerant.
So Obama supporters aren't classy? Weird.

There is quite a resurgence of late. (slowly but surely) Thanks the gods.

Oh my!"'tape ?!? their music" holy cow Happ when was the last time you set foot in a studio?

I still have some of my old reels of tape but analog studios died a horrible death quite some time ago!

The entire recording studio business has changed dramatically in both Nor and So Cal mostly due to digital media technology.

Ok people. I am moving to Walnut Creek East Bay area in two months. Yikes ! After reading the forums here, I am a little nervous. Sounds like a rat race. Anyone move from Texas to North Cal ? Are people as friendly ?

Why another So. CA vs. No. CA post, Urgh! Both places just shouldn't be compared as they both have something totally different about them that makes them special. The differences are so obvious to me from the scenery to the personalities to the clothing to the gyms. But one thing that we have in common is that we are Californians and we live in a great state with plenty of opportunities. There is no need for the No. v. So. communication.

How are the gyms different between northern California & southern California? Seems like a strange comment. Also personalities?

Gyms are different, there are more gyms in Southern CA. Gyms not only have personal trainers but come with nutritionist and all kinds of specialist. Most of the gym goers are in FANTASTIC shape and the women really care about appearances (they wear makeup and just look perfect).

Personalities/Mentalities, yes are just different. Some things in No. or So. might not be as important to one area then it is to the other. I really don't want to elaborate on this as this for sure will go into a bigger direction then I have energy for.

I don't know about 'most' but I do agree that attitude is prevalent here. More generally, there are more than a few in the Bay Area who tend to think themselves superior not only to SoCal but to the US more generally.

In general, California is a rat race (north or south). Of course, not everyone participates in said rat race. But sometimes you feel like the odd man out because you're not.

This is not completely unique to California, but I think the rat race is more prevalent here than other places.
