So, I'm from Oklahoma and we have pretty good Cherokee benefits here (health, car tag, etc) and I was wondering if anyone knows about Native American benefits in California? I've tried looking it up and I'm not finding a whole lot.

Anyone?

In California the Cherokee is an Urban Indian. Our tribe is not located in Califorina. They are in Oklahoma , in the 14 original boundries of Indian teritory. We can go to the IHS and see Doctors or dentist, because that is paid by the federal goverment. Best place for a member of the Cherokee Nation to be is in Northeast Oklahoma.

There are a few IHS facilities in the state but, of course, they're grouped around where the tribes are. Oddly, there don't appear to be any around Palm Springs. I wonder why?

There's at least two reservations out near there (actually, closer to Whitewater) and more than one Indian casino, so there must be some Indians around there somewhere!
