That's correct. When one looks at the Red\Blue map of the US, the large cities are almost all Democratic & rural areas mostly Republican. It shocks people to see so much red on the California map not realizing that those heavily red/Republican areas are sparsely populated. Los Angeles & the Bay Area hold well over half the state's population & are deep blue w/ shades of green for the Green party/socialists between San Francisco & Eureka.

But most of SoCal is, in some sense, L.A.

Democrat and republican are basically the same. One pushes for more welfare programs and the other for more special business interest. Either way, we will continue to borrow money and debase the dollar.

Democrat and republican party are just there to think you have a choice. You don't. Think outside of the box.

No it would not. San Diego and Orange couties might be conservative-voting, but by a small margin, not like in the Southern and Plains states where it is decidedly red. If this was 30 years ago, perhaps, but not now. There are more than enough people in LA county to lean blue, not to mention that even the conservative counties in Southern California are only slightly conservative by numbers. They lean red, but not enough.

We in California want to believe we are the first of the Green states.

This is a silly topic. California will never be split, for the same reasons that San Fernando Valley was not allowed to secede from Los Angeles. The other part won't let go of its cash cow.

lovehound,

you are right it probably will never happen, but for years it has been a subject on conversation off and on, even in the 50s believe it or not. The two areas are so very different in many ways, more so then.
