the only check point that I am aware of is actually north of the 40 on the 15. I've only used the 40 a few times to get to Lake Havasu and don't remember any check points, but I could be wrong.

There is a border check on I-40 at the California border. Also, watch VERY CLOSELY for cops on I-40 in New Mexico and Texas.

I drove I-40 from TN to Flagstaff in March. I made 560 miles in five hours with two stops for gas between OK City and Albuquerque. Do the math. I saw no cops anywhere. I don't think my radar detector chirped for the entire day.
