Hello to all,

Have some questions to ask you all. I'm considering a temp move (possibly permanent, we'll see)...to California. I would like to possibly find a job as i'm told it's much easier to obtain the TN Visa. I noticed the chart of professions to become eligle for a position from Canada to the U.S. The one related to I.T that I see is Systems Analyst. This is possible for me, but i'm more interested in Network Admin, Network Analyst, Network Engineer, etc. Would these various positions be eligible for me to work or MUST it be a Systems Analyst position only?

I'm still doing a lot of research but if anyone know of any other links or resources on thing I must complete before moving other than the approval of TN Visa, would be greatly appreciated. Would I need to register for U.S drivers license or would I be able to insure and register a car with my Canadian license? Will I have a hard time renting? Would a mortgage be out of the question for a newcommer? Are there specialized job sites which have employers listed whom are willing to sign off on the TN Visa and accept a Canadian employee?

Now, for anyone doing IT in Cali, what areas do you recommend with the highest probability of me landing a job. The first cities that come to my mind is Silicon Valley, Irvine, San Jose, Anaheim and L.A. Any other recommended cities? Of the above, which ones are the best to live (decent rental, low crime, clean, non-ghetto, good night life, nice beaches).

Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Excuse me but have you read the papers lately?? There's a RECESSION here and thousands of IT people have been laid off. Suggest try again in a couple of years, and be grateful for the job you have. Many people here are NOT having Happy Holidays.
