Medical field is as good as it gets. As an RN you can get paid to work ANYWHERE in the USA and get paid for travel. if you dont do the hard work now (school, study, etc) you will regret it far more when you are older. We all end up having to work about the same number of years-but many work for little pay wishing they had been better prepared. Your Dad sounds like a GREAT advisor. Good Parents=Blessing
Stay Well

You look good so go for a proper acting school. The "look" is 95% of the game.

I would make a visit here first. Find out what the job market is like for actresses in various areas and also check out a few acting schools. Get as much info as you can before you make your decision. Long Beach is very expensive, as most beach communities are. You will definitely need a city to live in that is close to school, work, and that is inexpensive, but safe to live in. Good luck. Oh, and ditto on the nursing field. You will NEVER be without a job if you go into nursing. I would recommend going to school for that first and then pursue the dream of acting. It is always good to have a backup plan.

Take the others advice about going to school at UT. You won't regret it. I go to LA and San Diego 2-3 times a year to visit friends and family. I can tell you that in LA, wanna be actresses are everywhere. You definitely need a backup plan or else be eaten alive. Many of the gals out there never intended or wanted to resort in being in porn, but ended up in it. Just my thoughts.

UPDATE!
Okay so I've talked things through with my parents, I'm going to continue with the medical program
I'm currently taking and continue with theater. While I'm still unsure about what college I want to attend, I plan on going to a school where I can become and RN and still continue theater. I think I'm going to stay in Texas for college. And when I'm 22 and graduated, hopefully everything will fall into place and I'll start my career, and maybe then I'll move out to California. But maybe I'll just stay in Texas, after all I do love Texas. (:
