My wife's family has rented a couple of cabins in the past year near Squaw Valley where her family built a cabin in 1958. I'm not sure which website they used, but they did find them on the web and they rented them directly from the owner and not through a real estate management company. (I'm gonna have to talk to them about that
)

There is usually tons of Tahoe rentals on Craigslist. Check the Bay Area, Sacramento and Reno sections.

Amazing Tahoe Cabin
Check out [url=http://www.lakefronttahoerental.com]Lake Tahoe Condo / Cabin Rental - South Shore[/url]. The place is amazing. I've stayed there. It is right on the water and just a couple minutes from Heavenly, and Harvey's. It is as nice as you will find in Tahoe.
