News stories lately are reporting that because of tougher crackdowns on gangs in California, gang members are moving to neighboring states. Bullhead City, AZ, and Stateline, NV, are evidently beefing up their gang-crime enforcement in the face of increased gang activity there; the criminals' locations of origin are, allegedly, here-and-there, CA.

It would be interesting to hear from anyone who lives in outlying areas who can elaborate on this phenomenon. Are CA gangs becoming a problem in rural and small towns in AZ, NV or other states not typically know for gangs? What's being done about it? How has it changed your area and your feeling about where you live?

This has been going on for 10 to 15 years. Check out the growth of MS-13 across the country, along with the Crips and the Bloods (who have been in LA for years).

There was a good article a few months ago in the New York Times about gang activity in Dodge City, Kansas.

Has there been a spike over the past weeks, months or recent years prompting the news reports of late, which make is sound as though there is some new twist to the issue?

I live in Bullhead. yes, our gangs are increasing. I really don't think we have much in the way of crips and bloods, however, we have a high rate of Mexican gangs. On top of that we have an even higher rate of "wannabes".
Truth of the story is, you will never hear REAL and ACCURATE accounts of ANYTHING regarding gangs or anything else because this is a tourist area. There is stuff that goes on here all of the time that is never publicized. There are normal burglaries and thefts etc that you read about in the paper, however there is stuff you never hear about.
Don't get me wrong, you are quite a bit safer here than you would be in East LA or Compton etc. Our crime rate is NOTHING compared to Southern California!!! But yes, there is some overflow coming our way!
