What's a refund? Never got one... I'm happy to just write a smaller check. Maybe I'll write an IOU this year.

We ARE moving back in a few months and I have to say that the constant stories about California's terrible economy is a concern for us.

Oh, the Democrats in the legislature have been talking about raising all sorts of taxes, as well.

"Under the Democrats' plan, sales taxes would increase by three-fourths of a cent. Gas taxes would go up by 13.5 cents per gallon. And a surcharge of 2.5% would be added to income taxes."

State Democrats plan to increase taxes - Los Angeles Times (http://www.latimes.com/news/local/la-me-fees18-2008dec18,0,2098124.story - broken link)

California is a state barrelling downhill. There has been massive irresponsibility in the state legislature, the banking system, the real estate industry, and the general populace.

I don't much like the idea. I can certainly use the money! I do, however, understand that our state (nation) are in dire straits and drastic measures are necessary. Everyone needs to make sacrifices until we pull out of this depression.

It does suck.
