I had to look it up... now I feel stoopit. Haynes at the reins. How could I remember Sammy Jackson (to whom I seldom listened) and forget Dick Haynes, a DJ I tried to never miss? Must be the Alzheimer.

Perhaps best known when he was at KLAC AM 570 during the 50's into the 60's while working as the morning jock. Later did a few other things. Can recall several DJs from that era, many no longer with us.

I don't know where you got the ideas the conservatives hated the show. I think your memory is slipping. What many did not like, both conservatives and liberals was how poorly it was filmed, but I guess we have to consider it was probably the first attempt at reality filming.
