Well I'm moving from NY and I want some sort of familiarity. Which areas have Italian communities? You don't have to limit your answers to just LA County either. My move is flexible.

Thank you!

There are no major italian communities in the area that I know of. People are spread out all over. My family moved from Jamestown, NY to Torrance, CA 50+ years ago, and there are smatterings of Italians in the area, but nothing that would constitute a community.

while there are people of italian decent in LA, i'm not aware of any 'italian communities' in the region. for the most part, people of european decent (regardless of heritage) are deemed as 'white' in LA and tend to live in 'white' neighborhoods. the jews may be one exception (but certainly not in all cases) as well as the russians in west hollywood. however, there are plenty of ethnic communities in LA, but these tend to be much more common among asian and latin american immigrants.

I think the closest you'll come to an Italian community in LA is San Pedro. But there are other Euro-ethnicities there so Italian's not predominant. Croats particularly, though Croatia is near Italy. My nephew is seeing an Italian/Croatian girl from Pedro.

Second Bunjee. Lots of first through third generation Italians in San Pedro and the eastern side of Rancho PV. Descendants of the now-near-dead commercial fishing and canning industries.

When I lived in SoCal, I found all of the "white" ethnicities to be watered-down....like, my friend was Italian but didn't know about any of the Italian traditions like Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve, etc. Nor did she know about "gravy" (or maybe that's just a South Philly term?). Similarly, I couldn't find any much Irish tradition or culture, either. If you want a strong Italian community, stick to the East Coast. You will find it VERY different in Southern CA. Nevertheless, I would still like to move back for that gorgeous weather -- it is perfect, IMO.

Well 9/10 of them certainly do not live in SoCal because I rarely come across people of Italian heritage here.
