NorCal. "The Bay Area" and "Sac-town" are the only other nicknames I've ever heard someone from NorCal use when asked where they're from.

Funny, we always use NoCal to keep our spreadsheet reports consistent. "So."=South, "No."=North. Nothing derogatory; just seems silly to add a consonant.

Those of us from the Southland are from So Cal. All others live in California. (I am from Oxnard which by some is considered in So Cal and others it is thought to be in the Central Coast.)

I'm a native NoCal and used to think the above about SoCal cousins , we were always the country bumpkins when we went south but proud of it..
The definition fits the issue perfect..
Now I'm an ex-patroit or from the other state as they call up here..
NoCal will always be home but oregon is special too...

I think the better question is: What the hell do we call all those people in the Central Valley? Hicks?

As long as we're on the subject of California and what to call whom, who can name the traditional term for a native Californian?

If I'd meant an Indian, I would have capitalized the N in native.

How about "native born"?
