dcashley you don't understand the new free form English. In this new style the rules of grammar, spelling and capitalization are varied randomly in order to give each person the opportunity to fully express themselves without being burdened by educated people and their snobbish insistence on good English.

Be glad he isn't posting in textish!

Quite honestly, Californians don't think that much about NY or NYers. I hear people from other states make cracks about Cali a lot (and yeah, I'm a native who's too lazy to spell it out also ), but you don't hear Californians make cracks about others too much. Most Californians I know say they'd like to visit NY someday, or thought it was cool when they were there, but they don't bother with comparison or competition. Most of the "LA vs. NY" threads are not started by Californians.

As brought out, it's a big state, with a variety of people & attitudes. In SoCal, many people have moved from other states, so we're used to that.
If you come here with a positive attitude and no inferiority complex looking to tear apart the state based on preconceived notions, then you should do fine.

Default It's all the same...

California is a big state and New York is a big state. If you are intimating that you want to compare LA to NYC, that's another matter.

Being a lifelong East Coaster, I feel there are LOTS of phonies on the East Coast as much as there are phonies on the West Coast. Likewise, LOTS of nice and intelligent people both places.

Stop trying to pigeonhole it all!
