I have to disagree with UB50 - I would never live in Los Feliz and work in Beverly Hills. That's a very bad, actually a hideous commute....I would suggest West Hollywood.

I agree. On a Friday afternoon it could easily take an hour or more.

Not sure if this is too far for a rush hour commute, it is 16 miles away, but El Segundo looks to have some 2 bedrooms you could afford and the schools there are EXCELLENT. Here is a sample of something nice looking I found: Sunny 2 Story 2 Bedroom with New Carpet (226) (http://losangeles.craigslist.org/wst/apa/1073339197.html - broken link)

The benefits are a safe city, great weather close to the beach, more affordable than Beverly Hills, and excellent schools. El Segundo Unified is small, with only 4 schools, but all 4 are very good:
Corner Street Elmentary: State API Rank 9/10, API Score 887
Richmond Street Elementary: State API Rank: 10/10, API Score 897
El Segundo Middle School: State API Rank: 9/10, API Score 884
El Segundo High School: State API Rank: 10/10, API Score API 839.

^^^^These are excellent scores and your kids will get a good education from K-12, something rare in California and these schools are MUCH better than anything you will find in LAUSD surrounding Beverly Hills.

Just throwing that out there as a possibility if living right in Beverly Hills doesn't work out. The only downside could be the commute, maybe somebody could chime in with how long they think it would be. It is probably better than commuting from other areas with good schools outside LAUSD though.
