I don't think he has a chance. I consider myself a moderate liberal democrat and he is too liberal for me. He'd have a better shot in the federal govt, i.e. as a representative.

No. He's the reason Prop. 8 passed. I think a lot of people were turned off by that ad on television that had him sneering at the crowd and yelling "...whether you like it or not!"

He'll get all the votes of the gays, panhandlers, druggies, commies. Yeah, guess he will be re-elected.

No. No doubt CA leans left, but this guy is way too liberal. I can't see him even winning the primary. Well, maybe he has a shot at the primary....maybe?

Not a chance. He has way too many negatives. Such as he had an affair with his best friends wife. He also has a thing for defending criminals; especially illegal aliens who murder innocent motorists. Newsom is insane.
Calif governors tend to be more middle of the road.

The primary's going to be a rout for Jerry Brown. He'd easily beat Newsom and whoever the GOP runs (possibilities: Meg Whitman, Steve Poizner, Tom Campbell, Abel Maldonado, maybe Carly Fiorina?). A third Brown term is a near certainty unless his health takes a severe downturn.

I really don't see Newsom winning a gubernatorial primary, although he'd have a better chance of doing so than Villaraigosa, CA's other "celebrity mayor". Other possibilities in a Dem primary: John Garamendi, Steve Westly, maybe Loretta Sanchez, maybe Feinstein (if she's any more serious about leaving the Senate to be governor this time than the many times she's talked about doing so in the past). Newsom's been a very poor administrator and is more concerned with leading a celebrity lifestyle than governing. If he somehow DOES manage to win a Dem primary, he could probably beat Meg Whitman (although the results of such a matchup would be extremely close) but lose to a less conservative Republican.

Its not that he's too liberal, its that he uses it as a way to bully others. I consider myself fairly liberal, but he's way too much of a radical to bring about any of the changes California needs, and is too partisan to work with the Republicans. You guys need a pragmatist, not a psuedo-populist (populist to left issues only)

The prototypical politician. So young and oh so dirty. He's got a better shot at serving time in prison. One can only hope and pray for justice in this world.
