Similar situations are happening everywhere right now.

If you're very pretty you should be able to find a job in the beach areas. If you have $2000 per month for rent you might be able to get a decent one bedroom apartment, but you'll probably need to put up at least $4000 to get in.

If you're ugly you probably shouldn't bother, you'll have too much competition for jobs.

What are you studying in school? That might help us place you.
Are you bilingual? It's pretty much a requirement here for low-skilled jobs, county jobs, city jobs, state jobs, school jobs...
It really sucks when you don't understand what your co-workers are saying about you behind your back.

I have one kid, 23, rock star. Moved to Daytona Beach, Florida, where he can actually afford to live AND get gigs.
Another kid, 20, college student, pilot, VW nut and mechanic, wants to start a small business when he graduates with a degree in business...in another state.
Third kid, 16, highschool. He's coming to Oregon with us.

Well, that approach didn't work too well for the 10,000 homeless people in Los Angeles, Beanie.

But if you're going to be homeless, California is probably the place to do it.
