Hey all,

Are any of you getting out there to see any of the Spring colors yet? With all the rants and whining that goes on in forums like this I thought it would be good to post something positive about California to balance things out a bit.

I posted a similar thread in the Portland forum a year ago which is actually still going today. It became a sticky. At that time ppl where whining about the PNW issues like too many cloudy days, etc... After taking a trip there I was amazed by the pure beauty of the place. So much so we almost moved there.

Now that we have moved 'back' to CA from CO we are thoroughly enjoying 'California the Beautiful.' Yeah, of course there will always be something to rant about - nothing new there. But if you take the time to appreciate what you have, CA is a pretty awesome state with a lot of beauty. If you are not seeing it maybe you need to get out more. Here are some recent pictures form this Spring. Please feel free to post your pictures as well.

Sweet shots jkbatca! I have always wanted to check out the Poppy Preserve. Were these taken this year? What was the approximate date?

Thanks for posting!

Derek

Folks, where is the California Poppy Reserve? I've heard of it before, but I don't know where it is. And some year I definitely have to get there for a visit.

The shot of the gold field with lupines sprinkled in was taken last week. The rest were taken last year in the first half of April.

The poppy preserve didn't have nearly the same amount of poppies "right now" as shown in my previous pics. I'm going again towards the end of next week, as things change pretty rapidly.

Many factors involve when the "peak" is, including temperature and overall rainfall from the past few months. Therefore, it's hard to nail down when exactly to go except to say "around April"...

BTW, here's another pic
