My husband has been offered a job at the Dominican Hospital in Santa Cruz. We are trying to figure out if there is a family & dog friendly community within a 30-40 min commute of there. We really need someplace that has lots of greenspace/parks, and has a low personal crime rate.
We can only pay about $1700-$2000 a month for rent. Any input would be greatly appreciated!!!

Thank you for the info, and the warning about the 17! We are looking to rent for the Summer, and get a feel for the region before we even think about buying. Right now we live in one of the smallest houses in one of the best neighborhoods in town, and our home appraises for about $225,000. Talk about sticker shock!

Try Felton, BL or Boulder Creek, its pretty nice up there, and kind of rural. Crime's mostly petty although sometimes there's stories about dead bodies being dumped here, but its better than living anywhere around SC or Capitola, especially with how run down SC seems to be now.
